Local History Website

local history web designer

local history websiteThe History of Eamont Bridge is a work of local history written by a Cumbrian researcher in order to document the history of the ancient Lakeland village.

The Problem: Having researched, sourced and compiled the local history into a printed booklet, the author received requests to publish the work in a similar format online, allowing interested parties further afield to benefit from the publication.

The Solution: Having been inspired by the document, I volunteered my services to create a website with a number of features to help retain and engage with visitors including:
  • Automatic email updates available from the website
  • Comments, Guestbook and contact the author forms
  • Free WordPress hosting and cheap (£1) domain
  • Website account management and consultancy

The Outcome: Having created and developed the website to enable the author to automatically distribute articles by email. The author was pleased to discover what I mean by Affordable. Hosted on WordPress servers for free, the total cost of the project is less than £1 per year to cover domain name registration.
